The First Dandelion
Simple and fresh and fair from winter’s close emerging,
As if no artifice of fashion, business, politics, had ever been,
Forth from its sunny nook of shelter’d grass — innocent, golden, calm as the dawn,
The spring’s first dandelion shows its trustful face.
from “Leaves of Grass,” by Walt Whitman
Reminds me so much of my boy Hayden. He’s ten, he’s spirited — Capricorn like me but born in the year of the dragon like Sunder. Lord help us all! He is turning into a more confident, organized, and quick-witted boy by the day. But the moments that warm my heart most? They are the cuddles, the innocence of picking the right dandelion — just the right one. How do we select from a sea of wish flowers? It is just this mystery that intrigues me today. Spring has sprung!
Love it — you are such an appreciator of the creative side of life! From every level. Congratulations! And wonderful shots of Hayden!
Thanks, my dear. Hope your weekend away is great. Can’t wait to see you this week!
Such beautiful photos of Hayden!!!! I miss you Heidi. When do I get to see you next? xoxo, ~ Dawn
Thanks, Dawn. Love him to pieces. Hmmm… looks like May!
