I am not hormonal, emotional, overtired, stressed, or overworked. I am touched by gratitude. And thankful to the unnamed couple who made my son’s day.
Last day of school! Yay! My kids got into the car and I asked how the day went. Hayden began with a story of his planned classroom field trip to Jeffery’s restaurant. We had prepaid for this event, yet he handed me my money back in the car. Guess who paid, y’all!?!? A [mature] couple, one that secretly gifted lunch for 20 students and their chaperones. Why? Well, that’s the best part. They didn’t stay to be thanked or stay to explain. They simply, and quietly, paid the waitress for the VHM Christian School students and passed on how impressed they were with the students’ behavior.
Thank you, sir and m’am. You did not just gift our students a meal. You gifted them with a life lesson: No matter where you are, who you are with, eyes are watching you. Good behavior pays off. Maybe not in the way you plan, but sometimes others’ gifts are better than you could have imagined.
Hayden and his classmates have put a thank you card together, and will return it to Jeffery’s in hopes that the couple will return. If not, know that you paid today, but you also paid these children a lesson that they will someday share with their own grandchildren, who I hope will sit on their knee and listen intently…
Wow….that’s truly great!….Gifts for Students
Isn’t it fabulous when children are randomly caught in a good way? Undoubtedly, the inspired kindness of this couple will be paid forward! Thanks for sharing, Heidi!
Absolutely, Sue! Thank you so much for indulging me and for commenting.
